Strength is a hard gate, not a soft bonus
Lasso strength decides whether the rope holds. Below the threshold for a target's rarity, catches fail mid-animation and the spawn is gone — you do not get a partial result. This is why upgrading the lasso beats almost every other purchase at the same price point.
There are five lassos, from 80 to 520 strength.
- Basic Lasso — 80 strength, free, holds Commons
- Storm Wrangler — 220 strength, $120,000, holds Rares and most Epics
- Nebula Lasso — 300 strength, $380,000, holds Legendaries
- Cosmic Chain — 420 strength, $950,000, holds Mythicals
- Mythic Reaper Rope — 520 strength, $1,800,000, holds Secrets and Celestials
Storm Wrangler is the only urgent purchase
Going from 80 to 220 strength nearly triples your ceiling and unlocks the entire Rare tier plus Lion, Tiger and Koala. Nothing else in the game changes your income potential this much for $120,000. Buy it before pen cosmetics, before extra slots, before anything.
It also carries a small success-rate bonus during Thunderstorms, which stacks neatly with Rhino farming.
Nebula Lasso is about control, not power
At 300 strength the headline number is only a 36% increase, but the effect text matters more: improved control against high-mobility targets. Pegasus, with its one-minute dawn window and evasive flight pattern, is effectively uncatchable below this tier.
Note the unlock: an event quest plus Lasso Forge Tier 3. Start the quest as soon as it appears even if you cannot afford the $380,000 yet, because the quest is the slower half.
Cosmic Chain is the Lightning Dragon key
At $950,000 and 420 strength, the Cosmic Chain exists for one job: holding Mythicals through their attack phases. Lightning Dragon's strike phase snaps weaker ropes mid-catch, which is why players report Thunderstorm runs failing repeatedly on the Nebula Lasso.
Once you own it, Lightning Dragon at $34/sec becomes farmable, and that single animal pays the upgrade back quickly.
Mythic Reaper Rope and when to skip it
The 520-strength Mythic Reaper Rope costs $1,800,000 and needs a seasonal boss reward, meaning it is time-gated whether or not you have the cash. It only matters if you are hunting Celestial-tier pets or Christmas Dragon.
If your plan is a stable pen of Mythicals bred from Legendary parents, the Cosmic Chain is your last necessary lasso. Put the $1.8M into pen slots instead — slots multiply income, and the rope only raises your ceiling.
