Income is per pen slot, so slots are the real currency
Every animal in your pen contributes a fixed dollars-per-second figure, and those figures simply add together. A pen holding six animals at $42, $34, $31, $29, $27 and $26 per second produces roughly $189/sec in total. That additive maths is what makes slot count and slot quality the only two levers that matter.
The practical consequence: never leave a slot occupied by a Chicken once you can catch anything better. Replacing a $3/sec Chicken with a $16/sec Koala is a bigger income gain than most upgrades you can buy.
The income table, highest to lowest

Income per unit of effort, not income per animal
Christmas Dragon tops the table, but it is event-gated and Hardcore difficulty, so for most accounts it is not a plan. Rank targets by what you can actually land this session:
Rhino at $24/sec has no weather lock, which makes it the highest sustained earner available to a mid-game player at any hour. Red Panda at $29/sec is only Hard difficulty and only needs Rain — the best Mythical-per-effort ratio in the game. Pegasus at $27/sec needs no combat skill at all, just being on the Sky Ruins platforms before sunrise.
Offline earnings change what a good session looks like
Because the pen pays out while you are logged off, the value of a session is not the cash you collect during it — it is the permanent per-second increase you leave behind. A session that nets $400,000 in collected cash but adds no new animal is worth less than one that adds a single Rhino and collects nothing.
Judge every route by the same question: did my per-second number go up when I logged off? If not, the session was farming, not progress.
The upgrade order that pays for itself fastest
- Fill all starting slots with Goats ($5/sec each).
- Storm Wrangler at $120,000 — unlocks Rare and most Epic income.
- Koala, then Lion and Tiger, to replace Commons in every slot.
- Nebula Lasso at $380,000 — unlocks Pegasus and Yeti.
- Pen slot expansions, which multiply everything above.
- Cosmic Chain at $950,000 — unlocks Lightning Dragon farming.
- Breeding stations, which convert Legendary stock into Mythical income without new catches.
