Catch And Tame weather guide

Weather in Catch And Tame is a global state, not a per-player roll. It changes which animals spawn, how dense those spawns are, and which breeding recipes you can submit at all. Past the Legendary tier, timing weather windows matters more than buying the next lasso.

6 weather states · updated 2026-08-20

How totems work

  • Fire totems between routes, never during one — overlapping windows burn timer duration you already paid for.
  • Only trigger a totem when your breeding station and capture inventory are both ready.
  • In a group, coordinate so two players do not spend totems on the same window.
  • During an event, commit to a single biome. Two or three high-value catches per cycle is a good result.

Every weather state

Thunderstorm

Storm Totem

Electrically charged conditions that favour thunder-element and storm-associated pets.

Best targets

Boosts

Lightning Dragon, Hydra line, storm variants

Breeding inside this window

  • · Lightning Dragon + Cerberus → Hydra
  • · Hydra + Cosmic Griffin → Celestial Hydra

Route: Volcanic paths into the ridge line — the two highest-density storm zones connect there.

Blizzard

Frost Totem

A low-visibility snowstorm that raises the odds on cold-biome Legendaries and Secrets.

Best targets

Boosts

Yeti, Christmas Dragon, snow variants

Breeding inside this window

  • · Moon Cat + Yeti → Kitsune (also needs Night)
  • · Christmas Dragon + Lightning Dragon → Cosmic Griffin (also needs Event Charm)

Route: Snow ridges downhill into the caves, finishing under cover before visibility drops.

Rain

Rain Totem

Raises activity among jungle, forest and water-leaning animals. The most beginner-friendly weather event.

Best targets

Boosts

Tiger, Bear, Red Panda

Breeding inside this window

  • · Axolotl + Red Panda → Galaxy Axolotl

Route: The forest–jungle border, which puts all three boosted spawns on one loop.

Night

None — day/night cycle only

Not a weather event but the day/night cycle. It cannot be forced with a totem, which makes night spawns the tightest windows in the game.

Best targets

Boosts

Moon Cat, Leopard, Kitsune, Wolf

Breeding inside this window

  • · Kitsune + Red Panda → Galaxy Kitsune
  • · Pegasus + Yeti → Red Panda (also needs Snow)
  • · Moon Cat + Yeti → Kitsune (also needs Blizzard)

Route: Be standing in the forest clearing or on the river bend before dusk — the first spawn window is the densest.

Sandstorm

Desert Totem

A desert phase favouring mobility and survival-adapted spawns, at the cost of visibility.

Best targets

Boosts

Kangaroo, Zebra variants, desert event pets

Route: Short desert loops with beacons placed first — long loops waste the window when visibility drops.

Dawn

None — cycle only

The short transition between night and day. Only one pet is tied to it, but that pet is the best-earning Legendary in the game.

Best targets

Boosts

Pegasus

Breeding inside this window

  • · Cosmic Griffin + Griffin → Celestial Griffin

Route: Sky Ruins platforms. Arrive during late night; the window closes within a minute of sunrise.

Weather FAQ

+How do you change the weather in Catch And Tame?

Use the matching totem. Each weather state has its own totem that forces the condition for a limited window instead of waiting for the natural cycle.

+Do weather boosts stack?

No. Only one weather state is active at a time, so placing a second totem replaces the first rather than adding to it.

+Which weather is best for money?

Thunderstorm — it boosts Lightning Dragon at $34/sec, the highest non-event income available inside a single window.
